Interview with the Property Owner

From England

Alan and Charlotte

《 About us 》

Alan, Charlotte and daughter Florence are British, live in Singapore, and often visit Hakuba. In 2018 they bought a plot of land and built Holly House, welcoming guests from January 2019. Alan and Florence are snowboarders and enjoy the smooth medium gradient slopes of Hakuba 47 and Tsugaike. Florence likes to tackle the jumps and rails in the park whereas Alan enjoys high-speed pistes. Charlotte is much fitter and likes to spend all day smashing the difficult terrain on Happo-One. Florence likes to end the day with a hot chocolate from Rythm. Alan and Charlotte prefer a cold Asahi at The Rabbit Hole or a visit to Kurashita Onsen to soothe tired muscles. The owners wish you a happy and contented holiday, and are sure that you’ll enjoy the house as much as they do.

《 What was reason you are sharing your beautiful house with guests? 》

Holly House was designed to be elegant and practical. The offset roof, stylish black exterior cladding, warm wood facade and clean light interior combine to give a modern but welcoming feeling. Large south facing windows fill the double-height living area with natural light and provide views out to the woodland, and up, to enjoy the sky, and trees that surround the house. The house is designed with the living area at its heart, with the dining area immediately behind, and kitchen discretely tucked to the side. This provides the perfect open environment for people to relax together, enjoy morning coffee and breakfast as a group, plan their day, then share their stories relaxing on the comfortable sofas in the evening.

《 How would you like Holly House guests to enjoy your house? 》

This rare location is in a woodland setting on a quiet road, but is just a one-minute walk home after an evening of eating and drinking in Echoland. There are regular ski buses running from the nearby Echoland roundabout which many visitors use, but to enjoy the whole of the Hakuba valley nothing beats the convenience of having a car (international visitors will find that renting at the airport is affordable compared to the cost of bus/train transfers). The Happo-One Nakiyama lift is five minutes away, with Goryu, 47, Iwatake and Tsugaike around ten minutes.
